Bartolome and Santiago Islands

We started this morning very early. However, there were many brave guests that joined us for our expedition. There were two Zodiacs that disembarked with our naturalists at 6:30 in the morning. Our destination was the summit of Bartolome Island, and it took us only less than a couple of hours to climb up and down the 375 wooden steps. We listened to interesting geological facts from our naturalist, and when we got to the summit of the slope, we observed the eroded crater together with one of the best views of the islands. After shooting all the pictures of this marvelous view, we climbed down to take our Zodiacs back on board of the M/S Islander to finally enjoy a real breakfast! Can you believe that all of the above was only a pre-breakfast outing?

After getting our energy back, the naturalists distributed the snorkeling gear necessary for the week to come. A whole display of wet suits, masks, tubes, flippers and floatation devices were handed out to everyone, and by ten-ish ,we were already heading to a beautiful golden sandy beach for a real treat. Bartolome is one of the easiest and nicest snorkeling experiences that we would have during the week. Some of our guests enjoyed the experience for the first time in their lives, and it was really nice to see them try and succeed.

The afternoon was just as great as the morning, but with a totally different approach to the archipelago. Nice snorkeling with a combination of a walk on the shore made us discover the natural wonders of the Island of Santiago.
