Isabela & Fernandina Islands

These two islands represent perhaps a fusion of beauty and exoticness! I have been in many different places, and I am confident saying that there are no places like them.

The morning was very adventurous, since we spent it mostly observing dolphins, crossing the equator line, kayaking, snorkeling and taking some Zodiac tours! It was a handful morning for all of us, because everyone wanted to do it all!

The afternoon on the island of Fernandina gave us the feeling of being transported to an ancient world, where humans did not exist, and only pre-historic looking animals were roaming the lava fields.

The very young black lava flows that reached the ocean on the coast line of Fernandina is the habitat for many different species that became also the target for photographers.

I don’t think anybody in this trip could get tired of seeing penguins and flightless cormorants. In sum, it was a day to remember for a long time, especially when the closure was a spectacular sunset behind the impressive Fernandina volcano!
