Floreana Island

Today in the morning we visited a very small but beautiful islet located off the Coast of Floreana Island known as Champion. We planned lots of activities for our guests including a Zodiac ride along the shorelines of this small islet. Impressive large candelabra and prickly pear cacti cover most of the landscaping. Some seabirds like swallow tailed-gulls, terns, shearwaters and tropic birds nest here, as well.

The highlight of the day during the ride was to observe the Galápagos sea lions. Young sea lions accompanied us the entire time we were riding on the Zodiac. These adorable creatures were both very curious and playful as well. They were playing with each other, making leaps in the air, approaching the Zodiac with the intention to bite the ropes. They were truly amazing, and in some point there were more than twenty of them around us! The snorkeling outing, according to the praising comments of most of our guests, was phenomenal. We were thrilled to observe many colorful tropical fish species. Sea lions were stars once again, this time sharing their underwater realms with us. Like swift javelins they were passing by their fast bodies close to ours. We ended our water activities in a big sheltered bay. In this place we had a magical encounter between human beings and sea lions, both species sharing very special moments of mutual curiosity and joy.
