Espanola Island

There are very few places on earth that can compare to the place that we just visited today. Espanola, being one of the oldest islands in the Galápagos, has showed us new things even in our very last day!

The animals that we saw today were, in majority, endemic to the island of Espanola.

The turquoise color waters that embraced the entire coast line were simply great to the eye, and sea lions were found resting all along the beach, as if they were taking a break from an exhausting day at work!

Waved Albatrosses were soaring in the distance, and the marine iguanas and the baby sea lions were basking in the rocky shoreline. There are very few words that could describe this magical place and therefore explain the feelings that such a pristine and unspoiled ecosystem created on us. Fortunately, we didn’t have to use many words, we just simply had to walk, observe and feel…What a wonderful experience!

Towards the end of the walk, we found what we believe was the highlight of the trip, the waved albatrosses. Some of them were nesting, some of them already had eggs, and pretty soon the babies would come, bringing joy to both parents and visitors who couldn’t stop staring at such wonderful animals.
