Santa Cruz and North Seymour Islands

This morning while we were looking for Galápagos giant tortoises in the wild in the highlands of Santa Cruz, we felt like coming back in time. With a great dose of curiosity and with the wonderful sense of adventure, we were all involved in the search of these famous reptiles. The great expectations our guests had to observe these antediluvian-looking creatures in their natural habitat were successfully achieved. Several individuals were observed at a close range provoking the admiration of their observers.

The afternoon we spent on North Seymour Island was spectacular as well. The abundance of wildlife together with their intrinsic beauty of the surroundings made us think that we were immersed inside of a dream. A symphony of colors and natural sounds enhanced the already paradisiacal setting of this little paradise known as North Seymour Island. Colorful and loud male frigate birds trying hard to attract a passing by female companion, blue footed boobies involved in their courtship, peaceful resting juvenile sea lions and majestic Galápagos land iguanas made this visit an unforgettable one. All the extraordinary sightings and feelings were reflected in the praising commentaries that arose among our guests this week at the end of the day. Reluctantly but happily, we came back onboard. A gorgeous sunset was a golden finale to a great day of our expedition around this magical archipelago.
