Isabela & Fernandina Islands

Our morning began with an unforgettable sight of Isabela Island at the horizon. The imposing presence of six volcanoes surrounding us gave us the feeling of being transported to the Jurassic times, when nothing but volcanoes adorned the landscapes. The view was more than rewarding, but as if we were asking for more, dolphins appeared in the scene. A pod of common dolphins joined us for a while, and their incredible jumps and side flops made our day.

Shortly after, our guests had the omnipotent visit of King Neptune and his pirates, who kindly allowed us to cross the equator line in a dance of joy and laughter.

Indeed, this was the beginning of a fun ride along the shore line of Punta Vicente Roca, at Isabela Island. We decided to board the Zodiacs and explore the surroundings, while others did the same, but with Kayaks. In no time, we were enjoying the presence of penguins, cormorants, sea lions and lots of iguanas.

After all this action, we deserved a nice lunch, and indeed, the hotel manager had prepared a nice typical Ecuadorian buffet for all of us!

The afternoon was simply phenomenal and included snorkeling in calm waters with an incredible variety of marine life. Punta Espinoza is a dream place, and it proved itself today! This is a meeting point for large colonies of flightless cormorants, penguins and sea lions, which combined with the landscape, made the perfect afternoon come true. And to top it all, a nice cocktail up in the sundeck to watch the sunset. Would you care to join us?
