Bartolomé & Santiago Islands

Bartolomé happens to be a tiny island located at the eastern side of Santiago. Despite the fact that it is very small, it is also full of things to admire. Our morning started with the visit to the summit of the island. The view was simply both impressive and breathtaking!

We appreciated mostly the moon-like scenery, since the island itself lacks of large groups of sea and land birds.

The second part of our morning was fully dedicated to snorkeling activities, and it was precisely here were one of the most memorable encounters happened. Penguins were definitely the highlight for all of us who were in the water admiring their acrobatics and their flawless performance when capturing their food.

The afternoon was no less impressive than the morning and it consisted of a relaxed stroll along the main part of the coastline of Santiago Island.

The amount of animal wildlife that Galápagos has on its coastline was revealed once we encountered several species of migrants and endemic animals. Sea lions and their babies always steal everyone’s attention, especially at this time of the year; most of the baby sea lions are nursing and they are found by dozens on the beach.

Our sunset today was something to both admire and remember; our first full day in the Galápagos was absolutely superb!
