Española Island

Today is the final day of our expedition in the Galápagos Islands. For the last seven days we have had incredible encounters with wildlife, which has given us a different perspective as to what true respect for nature is really all about.

The visit to the island of Española was accompanied with new discoveries and creatures that have become frequent company during our visit. One of our many options during the morning was to snorkel along the shores of Gardner Island — we had the chance to enjoy a group of sea lions playing and maneuvering skillfully underwater one more time. A curious jewel moray eel decided to peer out from a hole on the rocky shoreline. It looked threatening, especially when it opened and closed its mouth constantly, but this is only a movement needed for breathing, not a threat to divers.

The rest of our morning was dedicated to kayak and beach time, which was a real highlight for many of our guests. Dozens of sea lions were simply lying on the sand, and quite a few decided to get to know some of our guests better. It was a joyful experience to have them looking at us with as much curiosity as we had looking at them!

What can I say? Another day in paradise. It has been said before, but it is simply the truth!
