Floreana Island
The afternoon we spent today on this remote and paradisiacal island is as close to the wildest dream as you have ever imagined. Weather conditions were wonderful, a bright sun shining up in the sky and a cool breeze contributed to enhance to the utmost the striking coloration of the greater flamingos that live around a flat lagoon located in the visitor’s site known as Punta Cormorant. With amazement we observed how these graceful birds were observed at a very close range. The birds were so close we could hear the sounds they made while they were feeding on small organisms with rapid movements of their peculiar-shaped beaks. We were immersed in their world for magical minutes that appeared to be an eternity.
With our hearts filled with the joy that this beautiful sighting provoked in us we continued to walk to our next stop. We were received by a beach as white and fine as you can dream where we spent a great time observing the sunset. We came back to our home, the M/S Islander, where we shared our new discoveries and impressions. We can hardly wait for what extraordinary events tomorrow will bring to us in these enchanted islands.
