Española Island
I am very proud to start this DER (daily expedition report), my last one on board the M/S Islander for this year.
All of us naturalists and sometimes guests, have the opportunity to express ourselves from this site (usually through internet) hundreds or thousands of miles away from our reader: in the Galápagos. What a powerful tool this is: action picture-shots, anecdotes, thoughts of all kinds and points of view, all straight to you, our reader, wherever you are. We like to share our experiences here in this part of the world, just to let you know there is not a dull-day in the “Enchanted Islands,” where thousands of experiences and feelings prevail…
Today was no different, what a wonderful day we all had!
After our breakfast, energized, we disembarked on Española’s white sandy beach, with sea-lions of all ages and sizes. Meanwhile, snorkelers had their last underwater outing: turquoise-clear water teeming with fish of all kinds, a wonderful experience for all.
Our home, the M/S Islander repositioned while we enjoyed our lunch, to soon start our last visit on this expedition, at Punta Suarez. This spectacular area is home to the world famous wave-albatrosses, boobies (blue-footed and Nazca) and different scenic features like the blow-hole and landscapes from cliffs to flat-long white-sandy beaches. This site is located at the western part of the island, and as we returned to the ship saturated with sightings, the sun set right in front of us for a real Grand Finale – an outstanding way to say goodbye to our islands.
Tomorrow we must depart, but our memories will be here, inside us forever. This is a wonderful world, and one of its jewels is the Galápagos Archipelago, for sure. I really hope I am reaching you today my reader; there is a message here for you. Life is short, but today, many people are living their dreams, they made it a reality just before this year is over and it is great for each one of them, because their life will never be the same - how about you?
Good bye for now, I will contact you from our sister ship the M/S Polaris throughout next year, or will I see you soon?
Signing off from the M/S Islander…………………………
