Isle of Eigg & Tobermory

During breakfast we enjoyed a beautiful sail to the Isle of Eigg. Here we were welcomed by the island’s piper, Donna and her dog, Pibroch (who likes to sing along with her pipes).

Everyone had a choice of options to explore the island today, either with Donna (and Pibroch) or Steve or Konia on foot, or by minibus with local lad Ewan. The final option was individually by bike or on foot. The sun shone on us, highlighting the lovely volcanic landscape and the waves crashing onto the shore.

During lunch we sailed for Tobermory, passing the most westerly point on the British mainland, Ardnamurchan Point, with its distinctive lighthouse. The afternoon was spent in Tobermory, admiring the multi-coloured houses, boats and shops. Steve and Konia’s walking tours finished off in a lovely little gallery – before some of us headed for one of the fun pubs. One of them, the MIshnish, is depicted on a postcard at an angle – it must have been taken after a visit there!

After dinner, another stroll beckoned, and the bar upstairs called us to watch the seals popping up to have a look at us (and us at them).
