Cuverville Island, Neko Harbour and Paradise Bay, Antarctic Peninsula
Put yourself in this picture. Standing on the deck of the MS National Geographic Endeavour as she steams through the ice-choked waters body of water named Paradise Bay. And on a calm day with blue skies and sunshine, snow-capped peaks reflected in the mirror of a glassy sea it takes little imagination to understand why someone chose to give this place such a whimsical name. But who would have expected such serene beauty in a place as harsh as Antarctica?
This is just a small part of a day during which you could have landed on the Antarctic continent, kayaked or Zodiac cruised among icebergs, walked to visit gentoo penguin colonies or even attended the wedding of one of our guests.
This is what we did today. All this and more, and this is only one day of our journey. Time here is warped. Can it be that it was less than a week ago that we left Ushuaia? Yet already we have so many varied experiences and impressions. Antarctica can offer the willing visitor so much that it is near impossible to take it all in, there is simply too much to assimilate. There is plenty to reflect upon, memories that will last a lifetime. Sights, sounds and smells that will endure.
