Bartolomé Island & Santiago Island
Before breakfast, we started our hike to the summit of Bartolomé Island. The most beautiful island in the Galápagos…what a wonderful morning to hike…it was incredible! 372 steps on a wooden platform; small but impressive parasitic cones; a great view of the center of the Galápagos archipelago... Our Jeopardy filming crew was already there, finishing their shots. It was breathtaking; a living lesson on geology.
We went back on board, and had cheese-egg tortilla for breakfast. Then we were ready and energized for beach time and water activities, which included snorkeling, swimming, glass-bottom-boating and relaxing around the sea lions and the sharks.
Everybody was very reluctant to go back on board; even when lunch was one of the prime reasons… we had our farewell talk once dry and then ate lunch. We started our navigation towards Santiago Island, our adopted island.
Our afternoon started with a wet landing on a black sandy beach and a hike to the grottos, the home of fur sea lions and many other colorful animals, such as American oyster catchers, ruddy turnstones, wimbrels, Sally-lightfoot crabs, Galápagos sea lions and herons…Our last day in paradise… see you soon, Jeopardy…
