Bartolomé Island & Santiago Island
Early this morning, we started our heart break walk to the summit of Bartolomé, one of the most beautiful islands in Galápagos. What a wonderful morning to hike, it was amazing. A nice sun rise; the unique mars/moon landscape with rocks spread everywhere, like showers from the sky. We saw impressive parasitic cones, and a great view of the center of the Galápagos archipelago. Our Jeopardy filming crew were already there, finishing their shots. It was breathtaking, a dream place to learn about geology.
We went back on board, and had breakfast. Then we were ready for another outing at the gold sand beach. We also partook in water activities, which included snorkeling with sea lions and white tip reef sharks!!
Once dry, we had our farewell talk and had lunch. We started our navigation towards Santiago Island, our adopted island.
Our afternoon started with a wet landing on a black sandy beach for a hike to the grottos. This is the home of fur sea lions and many other animals and birds such as American oyster catchers, ruddy turnstones, wimbrels, Sally-lightfoot crabs, Galápagos sea lions, and herons…Our last day in paradise…
