Española Island
What a wonderful day we had today.
Early in the morning we started our visit on Española Island, the home of the waved albatross. This small southeastern island has a high content of uniqueness; animals which can only be found here, like our Española mocking birds, lava lizards, marine iguanas and albatross. Today we were surprised to have a particular mocking bird approaching and staring a guest while singing along and right under her. What a magical moment we had.
We had a dry landing onto a jetty thriving with fauna, Sally light foot crabs, blue footed boobies, Nazca boobies, red-billed tropic birds and our ever-present friends the sea-lions who are "in charge to welcome” our visitors to the site and towards a trail of about two miles. There are also many geological features on Española, like our famous “blow-hole” which blasts like thunder while a bright foamy jet stream of salt water reaches for the sky.
Back on board our guests were fitted with our snorkeling gear as we sailed to our next site known as Gardner Bay. Here we are taking advantage of many different options in order for us to maximize our expedition, glass bottom boat outings, kayaks, deepwater snorkeling and /or a nice walk over a half-mile long white sandy beach with turquoise water and surrounded by sea lions of different ages.
It is very difficult to define the Galápagos Islands. You just have to be here to understand it, my dear reader. Nothing will prepare you for this outstanding place, even when we tell you, show you, via video or pictures about the coexistence of our fauna and our landscapes.
This is just the beginning of a superb expedition. Our guests are back on board sharing conversation about the experiences they had during the day. We are all ready for more.
