Bartolomé & Santiago Island
What a wonderful day we had today! Early in the morning we started our day with an optional wake-up call to reach 312 feet above sea level for a breathtaking view of the volcanic landscape of the Galápagos Islands.
After the 372 steps up and down, we went back to the ship for a well-deserved breakfast and soon after back to Bartolome for our water activities, from glass bottom boating to snorkeling, from a beach towel and a book to a photo session for a marine iguana. Today we had it all – whatever Bartolomé could bring under a sunny equatorial sky.
We went back onboard for lunch as we sailed to Puerto Egas, our next visitor site on Santiago Island; here we had a choice to either snorkel at the beach or a walk over the shoreline on the western part of the island. Either choice brought out guests closer to nature as they said goodbye to our last excursion on this wonderful expedition.
As the sun sets, we are all back onboard headed to Baltra where the airport is located; tomorrow will be time for a farewell to this wonderful experience, goodbye to friends. We do cherish this enchanted place, and we are now ambassadors to a place which is impossible to portray in words, pictures or even videos. You just simply have to be here to experience it, my dear reader, the coexistence, the respect for one another, the tameness, and the trust for each other. We feel as if our inner essence has bonded with nature just like every animal which surrounded us, while making us appreciate we are “one” in nature.
Adios amigos……..
