Isabela & Fernandina Islands

One of our most exciting days of the week was today at Punta Vicente Roca. At the very tip of Isabella Island, we crossed the Equator line where King Neptune and his pirates welcomed us and made us kiss an octopus while we jumped into the ship’s pool to celebrate becoming shell backs.

We had a wonderful Zodiac ride around Neptune’s realm where we shared the morning with tiny Galápagos penguins, flightless cormorants, and an abundance of sea turtles and blue-footed boobies. We also saw brown noddies, Sally Lightfoot crabs and hundreds of marine iguanas. The sea was choppy and we had a great time riding on the big waves.

The highlight of the morning was definitely snorkeling with sea turtles on a valley of sea weed; we had so much fun! Our afternoon visit was a very easy stroll along the shores of the youngest of the Galápagos Islands, Fernandina Island.

We spent the afternoon surrounded by flightless cormorants nesting, big marine iguanas basking in the sand, sea lions and crabs running all around us. Out in the sea the boobies, pelicans and frigates were busy trying to find food for their families.

It was another perfect day in paradise!
