Cerro Dragon & Sombrero Chino
We had an early start today as we hiked Cerro Dragon (Dragon Hill) through the mud and mosquitoes to see the elusive land iguana. After, we returned to the ship for another delicious buffet breakfast.
As the day continued we boated out to the Guy Fawkes Islets to snorkel while others enjoyed a Zodiac ride. The area was full of boobies, sea lions and sharks. The snorkelers enjoyed the company of several white-tipped reef sharks swimming below them while the Zodiac riders patrolled the sheer walls of the island above, created by the ancient lava flow patterns.
After another outstanding lunch we entered the waters of Sombrero Chino (Chinese Hat) under the shadows of picturesque volcanoes. The afternoon brought Round two of snorkeling with marine iguanas and then kayaking with sea lions under the hot Galápagos sun.
As the sun set the four of us returned to the ship for a fantastic and lively barbecue dinner out on the deck. A delicious way to end a perfect day.
