Isabela & Fernandina Islands

This morning we awoke with a view of Volcano Ecuador. We have arrived to Isabela Island. Punta Vicente Roca is a fantastic area to visit, and a school of common dolphins welcomed us before breakfast.

After eating, we got ready for another fantastic expedition aboard the National Geographic Endeavour. It was time to enjoy the amazing nature of the location otherwise known as “La Oreja del Burro.” We began with a Zodiac ride; turtles were everywhere, as if on cue. Along the cliffs, many fur sea lions were waking up and beginning their daily activities. And in the bay, Galápagos penguins, flightless cormorants and millions of fish popped out.

Our next adventure was to get ready for the chilly water and do some snorkeling. Once we were in, all the colorful reef fish made us enjoy the fantastic nature of the Galápagos Islands: flightless cormorants, penguins and hundreds of turtles. Our morning exercise was rewarded with a traditional Ecuadorian lunch.

In the afternoon we went to the large, pristine island of Fernandina. The landscape was just breathtaking. The lava flows were over the trail; it was short time ago that La Cumbre Volcano erupted. There were marine iguanas everywhere. Our photo groups had a great time. With the sunset, we finished another wonderful day in paradise.
