North Seymour and Rabida Island
This morning we were welcomed by sea lion pups, and this was only the beginning of what was going to be a spectacular day.
North Seymour is home to many frigatebirds, which in this month are displaying their big red sacs to attract the attention of a female. We also saw the famous blue-footed boobies dancing, land iguanas feeding near the trail and lava lizards leading our way along the trail.
In the afternoon we had the company of two greater flamingos—one was sleeping and the other was filtering the organic ooze of a very shallow hyper saline lagoon.
We thought we had been blessed, just having seen flamingos after a very long time. We were ready to walk along the beach and then to the cliff area when we saw a vermillion flycatcher sitting on the branches of a black mangrove while a couple of juvenile Galápagos hawks decided to see us up close and personal.
