Floreana

A cold, cloudy morning on Mystery Island. Water temperature: 66º Fahrenheit. Nevertheless, our Zodiacs left before breakfast to post our mail. For centuries, travelers to the Galápagos Islands sent letters of hope and regret from Post Office Bay. So to follow the tradition, our brave expeditionary group and naturalist staff reached the shores shared by such famous feet as Darwin’s and David Farragut’s. Intrepid disembarkation took us to the oldest mail box in Ecuador and we were able to take a dozen or so letters to be distributed throughout the whole wide world by hand. Right after, our restaurant was open to everybody. Later, the day warmed up a couple of degrees and some swimmers took to one of the best snorkeling areas of the islands: Champion Island.

The afternoon was dedicated to sand as we encountered pure white, emerald green and pink sand within half a mile walk. What a lovely day!
