Española Island

No matter how much we love our home, city or country, there will always be places that will stay in our minds forever. Sometimes the same happens with people. Beauty is not forever some say, but the Galápagos Islands has been so well managed over the years; that it will only last with the compromise of everyone in this world for its conservation. When we went this morning to Gardner Islet to swim and snorkel with sea lions and a great variety of fish, one can only marvel at how wonderful this experience is. All these creatures can share with us their territories and even seem to enjoy it. Sometimes it seems like they try to include us in their lifestyles; just be and feel like one of them. Our big and deep compromise with every single animal species here is to protect them.

Education, love and commitment are key words to get close to Nature, respect it and preserve it. Our richness lies in the resources we leave for our children, and for ourselves, so when we see such a place like the Galápagos with all the birds, turtles, colorful iguanas, crabs, and the amazing views, we don’t feel that we are not poor at all. Richness has many faces; unfortunately people see richness just on the monetary side. We certainly have so much natural beauty; this is our richness! Places like Española Island are so well preserved that we as Ecuadorians feel extremely proud. On the way back this afternoon from the walk a soft cool rain reminded us that Nature will go its own way no matter what we try to do.
