Bartolome Island

With an early wake-up call, we started our first full day in paradise. An optional wake-up call took us on a wooden stairway to the summit of Bartolome Island. Our welcome committee included marine iguanas, sally light foot crabs, feeding blue footed boobies, lava lizards, and even a Galápagos snake.

The highlight of the morning was the fabulous view from up on top of the volcano as well as the sand dunes, filled with nests of sea turtles, oyster catchers white tipped reef sharks, ghost crabs, and other astonishing species.

Snorkelling was also an outstanding experience in the morning near Bartolome Island. We saw many special species such as Galápagos penguins, marble sting rays, playful sea lions, and more.

The afternoon walk to the grottos of the Galápagos fur seal was the highlight as well as our second snorkelling of the day, the big marine iguanas on the shore, all the land birds and the tiny ferns growing under the rocks on the high tide line of the shore of Puerto Egas.

We really had a great time today in the Galápagos.
