Bartolome & Santiago Islands
We start our day with an early landing at 6:30 am! The weather was perfect for our walk to the summit of Bartolome to see one of the most astonishing volcanic landscapes on earth. A wooden staircase brought us to the top of the Island and on the way we had the chance to see some endemic plants such us the tiquilia, the tomatillo and the lava cactus.
The highlights of the morning were the fabulous view from the top of the Island and of course the snorkelling from the beach. Some guests had the chance to see Galápagos penguins on the water, and many species of fish such as the razor surgeon fish, parrot fish, puffer fish and even a marble sting ray!
After a delicious Ecuadorian buffet-style lunch, we arrive to Santiago Island for our afternoon walk to the grottos of Puerto Egas to see the Galápagos fur seals. On the way to the grottos we had a fantastic walk along the shore. We were able to see a couple of American oystercatchers taking care of their young, baby sea lions playing in the natural water pools, hundreds of marine iguanas, a great blue heron, pelicans, sanderlings and of course the highlight of the afternoon, the fur seals.
After that I can only say that any day here in Galápagos is special and the Islands always bring us the joy of life in perfect harmony with nature!
Tomorrow will be even better!
