Espanola Island
Saturdays on board the National Geographic Islander are the jewel of the crown of the Galápagos expedition cruise. Espanola island offers a whole lot of fabulous natural attractions.
As soon as we started the day, and before breakfast, kayakers enjoyed the beautiful sourrounding islets at Gardner Bay. Aqua, transparent warm waters filled with sea turtles and sea lions were the absolute gorgeous setting for early morning kayakers. Snorkelers had the best of times with a water temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Lots and lots of colorful fish were observed, sea lions came to play with us, and the water was so nice and clear that nobody wanted to leave! The beach time was shared with hundreds of lazy and friendly sea lions.
The afternoon highlights were countless: big lava lizards, colorful marine iguanas, Galápagos hawks, hundreds of Nazca boobies, blue footed boobies, doves, finches, mocking birds, red billed tropic birds, and hundreds of bright red sally lightfoot crabs… just to mention some of the spectacular wild life around us. It was the perfect setting to the perfect farewell to paradise.
So long and see you back here soon friends!
