Urbina Bay & Punta Moreno
Today we saw the greatest waves ever! A great deal of wildlife was waiting for us on the other side of a warm water wave breaker!!! The only other boat at bay (from another company) gave up disembarkation and their Zodiacs returned to their quarters…Us, filled with the thrill of last night eruption blasts and led by skillful Panga riders, had a successful landing on Isabela Island. Everyone, and technically dry!
Our visit during the morning took us to the coral fields that used to be underwater for thousands of years until 1954. The uplifting that took place during that year changed everything…The great no-longer-underwater volcanic landscapes were amazing!!
After lunch we had kid’s activities, films and siesta as well. The volcano lava fields were waiting for us. We walked them with humbleness and deep respect. The Zodiac cruise afterwards was a delightful ending…rays, turtles, sea lions and cormorants seemed to enjoy it too.
