Española Island
Our last day was the best of the week, with a visit to Gardner Bay, on Española Island. Today we were accompanied by sea lions, literally warming us up in the chilly water. After, we met the real sea lion colony, leaving most of our excited guests to enjoy the sand and the sun of the Islands. Our lunch was fantastic, with ice cream and all.
The afternoon was spent on the other side of the island, at Punta Suarez. We saw many Galápagos hawks along the beginning of the trail, only three feet away from us. We also met the famous Galápagos marine iguana from Española, the most beautiful iguana in the world.
Our hike was for the search of the albatross though. During the entire walk we met blue footed boobies, Nazca boobies, and tropic birds as well, all nesting at the same time. Finally, we met the albatross, the most magnificent bird of the Galápagos. We saw babies trying their first flights, feeding, playing and more. It was a wonderful end for our trip.
Tomorrow we say good-bye to these magical islands…
