Española Island

Today we had a great day on Española Island. We started anchored at Gardner Bay with a good breakfast. Then, the experienced snorkelers went to explore along the bay with a lot of wildlife to see. What a fabulous morning in the archipelago! Meanwhile, other guests landed at the most amazing white sandy beach on the island and enjoyed the sea lions and the mockingbirds, while practicing snorkeling from the beach. Later, kayakers enjoyed the fabulous shores of the site and the company of sea turtles, sea lions, a lot of fish, clear waters and impressive lava formations. The morning could not have been better.

The afternoon highlight was Punta Suarez. This place has a lot of endemic creatures including the very red and very big marine iguanas, Sally Lightfoot crabs, big lava lizards, doves, hundreds of sea lions, lots of finches, including the carnivorous-looking ones, hawks, Nazca boobies, dancing blue-footed boobies, striated herons, yellow crown night herons and of course the highlight of the day, the fabulous waved albatross.

We left the rocking island right after our famous recap, ready for dinner. After that our session on photography was the cherry-on-top-of-the-cake of our first day in paradise…
