Cerro Dragon & Sombrero Chino
Since early in the morning today I had the feeling that we would have a great day around this exquisite archipelago. This week we have had a kind of magic floating in the air. The many families and individuals onboard had developed something in common throughout this week, a real love and appreciation for what the Galápagos Islands represent.
The many activities that were planned today for our expedition were enjoyed to the most. In the morning, we went for a walk around Cerro Dragon looking for the prehistoric-looking Galápagos land iguanas. Afterwards we went to snorkel on Guy Fawkes Islets, a place where we had a blast of a time, for we observed many different marine species that included white tipped reef sharks and Galápagos sea lions. After lunch, the National Geographic Polaris went to a different destination, “Sombrero Chino,” Spanish for “Chinese Hat.” Kayaking, snorkeling, beach time and Zodiac cruises were offered.
It was so rewarding to observe the eagerness and happiness of all onboard to participate in these activities. A spectacular sunset told us that the daylight was over and that we had to get ready for our special Christmas dinner.
What a treat! We had the privilege and the joy to spend Christmas day in one of the most remote and famous nature destinations of the World.
For those who were with us in the past and for those of you who will come,
MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!
