Early in the morning we awoke in Thomas Bay, going for a hike at Cascade Creek.
Ashore, hikes to the bridge, looking for newts, learning about the forest.
Treasures found: newts, porcupine, flowers in bloom, and a cascading waterfall.

Across the Wrangle Narrows, we hike into the forest, then to a bog, or muskeg.
Lichen, mosses, fern. Flowers in bloom, Labrador Tea, False Lily of the Valley & dwarf dogwood.
Muskeg, meaning Alaskan peat bog, dominated by sphagnum moss.
Old growth forest, part of the Tongass National Forest, the largest in the country.
Nightfall arrives, and we look forward to tomorrow, and another adventure.
