Los Islotes & Bahia Dispensa

This morning we woke up in the vicinity of Los Islotes, a small group of islets that are home for a wide variety of wildlife. To meet for the first time with this colony of California sea lions, we took Zodiac tours along the inner front of the islets, and we had very good looks of the animals at their rest positions, grumbling, barking and even posing. We saw during these tours, some of the birds that live in the islets, such as brown boobies, blue footed boobies, and the endemic yellow footed gull.

At the end of the Zodiac cruises, for those who wanted the experience to swim with the sea lions, we used our Zodiac platform and we had great encounters with young playful individuals and larger sea lions that looked at us and swam by.

For the afternoon, we moved to a protected beach, at the south end of Espiritu Santo Island, Bahia Dispensa where our fleet of kayaks was deployed. Other activities were hikes of different lengths and duration with the naturalists, and for some it was the opportunity to spot at the endemic Black jack rabbit of the Espiritu Santo Island.

To finish the day, the galley and hotel department from the National Geographic Sea Bird organized a dinner on the beach for the enjoyment of all of us, in preparation for the wonderful things that always will happen here in the Gulf of California.
