Sitkoh Bay & Peril Strait

So who says the sun has to be shinning for the day to be radiant? Eyes were sunny and bright, while captivated by one of the most impressive humpback whale behaviors, bubble net or cooperative feeding. After a fulfilling amount of time observing, all were enticed to leave these beautiful creatures to enjoy their breakfast and prepare for the day’s excursion ashore.

We set out for walks along an abandoned logging road, taking in the smells and feeling the richness of the old growth forest. Making it a most memorable experience, a brown bear graced us with its presence, greeting us on our path. We took time to observe each other, and then continued on our respective way.

Back at the beach landing, the youngsters were shouting the praises of their successes in Zodiac driving, and challenging each other to a Polar Bear swim. They all take the plunge, bringing along with them one very brave adult! The evening concludes with cocktails and hour de ores while transiting Sergius Narrows, a very narrow passage, on our way to Sitka.
