Hull Canal, Magdalena Bay

Our last day aboard the National Geographic Sea Lion was spent traveling the Hull Canal from the northern part of Magdalena Bay to the southern. Along the way numerous patterns in nature were seen and enjoyed. During dawn we were out in the Zodiacs to see the morning light patterns as the sun rose and shown on the sand dunes and mangroves that line the canal. The skin of baby gray whales also show growth patterns as they shed skin during their incredible growth spurt. This detail was seen during our morning whale watch rounds.

Late morning and early afternoon was spent aboard ship watching the sinuous patterns of the side channels leading off the main Hull Canal. Later in the afternoon we explored the dunes at length and marveled at the small and large scale patterns in the shells, sand, plants and bones found during our last walk across a pristine Baja California beach.
