Isla Danzante, Loreto Bay National Park
From before dawn to well into the night, it was a very active, fun-filled day. It was worth rising early for a sunrise Zodiac trip around Isla Danzante to view the first light on the peninsular Sierra de la Giganta (Mountains of the Giantess). It also gave us an opportunity to see ospreys, pelicans, gulls, Sally-lightfoot crabs, and interesting volcanic rock formations.
The National Geographic Sea Lion was anchored in scenic Honeymoon Cove on the northwest side of Isla Danzante. After breakfast activities included kayaking, hiking and snorkeling from one of the lovely beaches. The divers were checked out by the dive master at their various levels and they were pleased with the colorful fishes and invertebrate life beneath the surface.
After lunch the “fiesta siesta” continued through the late afternoon. The band, Los Romanticos, played non-stop and everyone had a splendid time. What a great platform our National Geographic Sea Lion serves for so many purposes!
In the evening, we all returned to the beach for dinner on-shore, complete with salad, bread, fish, chicken, vegetables, watermelon, delicious brownies and more music. Before our scrumptious buffet, we had a few moments of quiet reflection and centering with Wellness Specialist Susan and some contemplative words from Adrián and Alejandra to complement our celebration of a beautiful day in an extraordinary place. The stars brightened in the cloudless, darkening sky, drawing the curtain on another day.
