Isla San Francisco

It was a day for all the elements in full force today. The large beautiful cove at Isla San Francisco provided a perfect protector for the strong breeze, allowing for all the fun planned for the day.

Long hikers went ashore for an aerobic walk down the beach and up the mesa that provided great views of both sides of the island, especially rocky and scenic on the back side. A big loop landed us at some tidal pools where naturalists CT Ticknor and Mike Nolan uncovered some very interesting specimens for all to take a look . Among the more interesting were some moray eels, brittle stars, baby octopus, bryozomes, sea cucumbers, sunflower star, as well as pencil, purple and brown sea urchins.

Scuba divers farther out in the cove were rewarded with argos eels and moray eels, trigger fish, stingrays, many stars and cucumbers, as well as a variety of beautiful fish.

In the afternoon we all converged on the long beach on the cove for a scrumptious lunch of grilled salmon with mango salsa, beef, chicken, tasty ceviche and a complete full bar including refreshing sangria! The Romanticos showed up to entertain yet again, strolling to each table and engaging all in their fun and flirtatious songs while kites flew, kayakers played in the waves, and sunbathers soaked up some rays.
