Corcovado National Park
Just our second day of adventures! And we continue to have an excellent climate. Early this morning we arrived to one of the favorite destinations among the naturalists, Corcovado National Park. We disembarked early on the Caletas sector, part of the buffer zone of Corcovado. As we started walking on the trails, we realized how good our timing was, as we could notice on the ground that it had been raining heavily as recently as last night.
As we started getting into the forest we were readily greeted by White-faced capuchin monkeys jumping on the trees. A little later on the beach we had quite a show provided by scarlet macaws! What a great display of colors. That really gave delight to our group of professional and novice photographers as these spectacularly colorful birds flew from tree to tree, closer and closer to us.
The afternoon was also a great success! The San Pedrillo station sector of Corcovado National Park rewarded us with troops of acrobatic spider monkeys, a Tamandua anteater, White nosed coatis and birds like Great Curassow, White throated shrike tanager, Red capped and blue crowned manakins, American oyster catchers on the beach, and Olivaceous piculet (smallest woodpecker in Costa Rica) among other birds.
Indeed, an overall great second day!
