Sibenik/Krka National Park, Croatia
We awoke to a storm front this morning, which brought some rain but did not deter us from our visit to the waterfalls of Krka in one of Croatia’s wonderful National Parks. Our options there included a visit to a water-driven sugar mill, a small ethnographic museum, and a blacksmith forgery, as well as exploring the many boardwalk trails through shimmering forests and streams that yielded glimpses of fish and choruses of frogs. A hike down stairs or trails eventually led us to the spectacular terraced cascades of Stradinski Buk.
Before we returned to the ship, Mariana, our Croatian guide, took us on a short walk through the alleys and streets of Sibenik, which is Croatia’s main port. We began at a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the architectural masterpiece of St. Jacob’s Cathedral (Sveti Jakovi).
We set sail southward with a following breeze for the afternoon, settling in to the decks of Panorama.
