Naxos
After a good night's sleep at Port of Naxos, our party was divided into two groups: the hikers, loving nature and wishing to walk in the islands countryside, and the history lovers, who took another trip by bus visiting the island's beautiful villages.
The hikers started their exploration on foot from Kourmochiori town, walking two miles over to a private farm, where a 7th century BC statue of a kouros lies in the garden. Hikers on the way had the chance to see trees, flowers, and other plants, typical to the Mediterranean climate.
The second group had the chance to visit Apeiranthos, the most picturesque village of Naxos. And in the end we all enjoyed stopping at the Chalki town, in order to taste some of the local citron liquor, that Naxos is producing and very proud of. What an experience for us it was today. Marble quarries, beautiful nature, and traditional villages!
In the afternoon we arrived in Myconos. The island with the most exciting and sophisticated nightlife in Greece, graced with excellent beaches and a beautiful colorful cosmopolitan white-washed town. We walked through the maze of this town, saw its mascots the pelicans, and enjoyed the views of “little Venice” and its windmills.
A great day…
