Genovesa Island
The rainy season has started on the islands. Everywhere there are beautiful colors, and cheerful songs are being sung by the little birds called Darwin finches. They are preparing to nest and to raise their chicks, leaving their mark within their descendants for future generations to come.
Whoever comes to Genovesa this time of year will find another remarkable bird. It displays an attractive red gular sac while posing on trees and bushes all over the island; like models on a cat walk hoping to attract someone’s attention. The frigatebird shows off his large colorful balloon-like sac, often for hours day after day. He displays until a female comes down, as if she were some compassionate angel. Imagine these poor blokes sitting out there all day in the burning sun, only occasionally resting their heads on their inflatable pillows. Waiting, waiting, waiting. In the end though, they do get their prize.
He who perseveres, reaches his goal.
