Española Island
Visiting Española Island makes you come back to a totally different world. I just came back from vacation, and I am very happy to be here on this particular island. We had a great hike this morning at the western tip, on a point called “Punta Suarez”. It was terrific because our guests were so happy to see so many animals so close, and almost all of them at the landing jetty. Here we saw lava lizards, marine iguanas, sea lions, and we can not forget the very curious mocking birds, as they were following us along most of the trail.
Well, in the afternoon it was a totally different experience visiting Gardner Bay. We had many different options for water activities. Some of our guests decided to go on the glass bottom boat, some to snorkel, and some of them just to relax on a beautiful white sand beach. The sand was so fine that it looks like “flour”. I was walking along the beach and I was very impressed with the way in which the sea lions rest. They rest very close to one another, in order to warm up after swimming, and in this picture I photographed one of them using the other one as a pillow. It was very nice and funny at the same time watching this particular sea lion trying to find the soft part of his friend to sleep on. We saw many adults and babies, all of them resting along the beach. I think every one of our guests had a unique experience with the sea lions on the beach of Gardner Bay.
