Floreana Island

Our day has been filled with new discoveries and excitement. Landscapes, rare plant species and face to face encounters with the unique Galapagos fauna really fulfill the most demanding expectations. Early in the morning we visited the historical site of Post Office Bay. Later after breakfast many of us went to explore the underwater world by snorkeling or from our glass bottom boat. For many this exploration was a real highlight, not only because of the incredible numbers of fish spotted but for the opportunity to swim with playful sea lions pups that joined the groups and cheerfully interacted with our delighted guests. After a wonderful traditional Ecuadorian lunch, which sincerely is a lively feast of flavors, we visited Punta Cormorant. Before disembarkation some advanced snorkelers had a second immersion with the thrill to experience the strong currents in Devil’s Crown . During the walk greater flamingos at close range were admired by all of us, some flamingos were observed flying in circles! A remarkable sight, not often seen. Exotic plant species, found nowhere else but here on this island made the afternoon special for several of us interested in botany. Pacific sea turtles floated peacefully, mating or waiting to lay their eggs in the most wonderful fine white sand.

It sounds like a lot to do or see in a single day. Well this is what Galapagos is all about it, the most exquisite combination of diverse activities inside one of the most breathtaking and almost untouched ecosystems in the whole world.
