Genovesa Island

One of the many things that I like about the Galapagos Archipelago is the fact that these islands provide our guests with an unforgettable insight into the awesome complexities and fascinating intricacies of nature.

This afternoon we had an interesting, humorous and insightful discussion on animal behavior, and we were fortunate to witness the entire mating ritual of two red-footed boobies. It is because of moments like these that it is so easy to get addicted to this magical region.

We also saw a frigate bird feeding its chick, several male frigates with their scarlet gular pouches completely inflated, Nazca boobies in different stages of their life cycle, vampire (or sharp-billed ground) finches, Galapagos doves and the spectacular red-billed tropicbirds flying above our heads.

All of these unbelievable sightings combined to make this outing so highly enjoyable, and introduced us to the delightful world of the mysterious bird kingdom that never ceases to fascinate us all.
