Española Island
Those of you who follow our website may remember a similar picture that we sent a few weeks ago. The person on today’s picture is not the same, however the bird is the same one and the place is the same. This Nazca booby chick has grown up close to the trail at Punta Suarez. He is getting bigger, but he is still the invariably friendly and curious creature. He seems to like cameras, and above all, shoe laces.
When we arrived at the spot, the chick was resting four feet away from the trail, but as soon as he saw us, he moved forward. We had to back up from the trail to take this picture. So when we tell our guests that they don’t really have to leave the path for getting the best shots, we mean it. As you can see, zoom lenses are not needed in the Galapagos!
