Española Island

One of the things I like the most about the Galapagos Islands is the way we can observe the wildlife. Not only are there many species, but they are so completely fearless that you can watch them performing their normal behavior as if we were absent. If you are a nature lover what else could you ask for? There are very few places on earth where you can have this spectacular experience. Certainly this enchanted group of islands is considered to be one of the best nature travel destinations in the world. Today was not an exception. During our morning walk, a juvenile booby really made our day. This bird was extremely curious and playful. It came from far away to encounter the group right on the trail and started to play with some of us. It was pecking at our shoes and shorts. It is hard to believe that a wild animal can behave like this and was an unforgettable experience for many of our guests. After several magical minutes we left and the bird started to follow us! It wanted to continue playing!

In the afternoon we went to Gardner Bay where we all enjoyed the most beautiful white beach you can imagine. When we arrived at the beach there was one common comment: What a beautiful place! The sand was soft and white, the water had an incredible turquoise color and there was a huge colony of sea lions. Most of them were sleeping on land and did not seem to be bothered by our presence. Some sea lion pups were playing in a small pool and a couple of them decided to have a closer look at the things we brought to the beach. They were sniffing and playing with the bags, towels, shoes… They were very curious and mischievous like little puppies. To top off the day we also observed a small group of spotted eagle rays swimming very close to the beach. They were mating! Doesn’t it sound amazing to see so many incredible sightings in a single day? Well this is Galapagos, and that is why I love to work here!
