Bartolome and Santigo Islands
The Galapagos Islands: a paradise with no match! This little archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, 600 miles away from the closest land continental mass, attracts the curiosity of many different kinds of people. Since the earliest 1800s, scientists like Charles Darwin, were impressed by the innocence of the animals. Because they evolved in the absence of predators, they show a complete lack of fear towards people. The impression that these islands made on Darwin inspired him eventually to write one of the most important books written in the history of biology: The Origin of the Species by Natural Selection.
Nowadays, the theories presented in that book have awaken the curiosity of many, who, as Charles Darwin did, choose these islands as a travel destination. Anyone who loves nature and is curious to learn about the natural history of these islands will thoroughly enjoy a week on board the Polaris. On this trip the Alumni of Princeton University joined our ship. Today is the last day for them in this paradise. Their journey to the Galapagos has been a great success. We have had wonderful sightings and shared many unforgettable experiences. Many questions were answered but perhaps even more were planted. Luckily there is a whole world out there in which to seek the answers...
