Isabela Island

Up in the left-hand corner of this picture there are two human beings, and in the entire center and upper right side, there is a green sea turtle. This photo was taken this morning when four Zodiacs full of Polaris guests went off to explore the underwater world around Punta Vicente Roca. This is a little volcano, a tuff volcano, only one of many parasitic formations of the big and collapsed shield volcano of Volcan Ecuador. The drop off is just amazing, but we did not need to see the bottom to enjoy our snorkeling site, the turtles were the show of the day. Some just rested on the lava boulders deep in the ocean, some were grazing on green algae, and some swam around us enjoying the agreeable water temperature.

A few of our guests, very lucky guests, got to see bottlenose dolphins underwater as well. They spotted a pod of at least 20 together, pure muscle. It was definitely a day of wonderful surprises.
