Bartholome and Santiago Islands

Today we visited two of the most beautiful islands located in the central part of the archipelago, Bartolomé and Santiago. An extraordinary sunrise was a great start for this day. A complete day filled with activities that satisfied the most demanding expectations. We started very early with a walk to the top of Bartolomé Island. From that height we enjoyed one of the most striking landscapes that we have in the Galapagos Islands. Later in the morning, after breakfast, we went to a very nice beach where our guests swam and snorkeled in nice calm waters. In the afternoon we went to visit Santiago Island. Water activities were the prelude for a relaxed walk along the shoreline. Fur sea lions, marine iguanas and some shore birds species were seen blended with a wonderful volcanic landscape. A majestic sunset was our company on the way back on board.

A trip to the Galapagos Archipelago is always special in many ways. The group that has been visiting us this week has a very wide range of ages and interests. The Polaris was filled almost entirely with two Universities, Duke and Chicago. Interesting lectures and recaps; informal chatting, great sightings were the tonic of the week. In the end, everybody, from children to seniors had a common thread, the love and admiration of a unique place. A dream with unforgettable memories reaches its end and starts at the same time, what a fascinating paradox.
