Fernandina Island

During the time we have been in this archipelago we have carried out multiple expeditions and these incredible islands still have new extraordinary experiences to offer.

This has been one very special day. It was hard to believe that in the morning we were snorkeling with penguins, tortoises, golden rays, hammer head sharks, sea lions, marine turtles, and fishes of several types, including a close encounter with the Ocean Sun fish (Mola mola).

The afternoon took us to the island of Fernandina (named after King Fernando from Spain) and this was a great adventure. During our walk we found Galapagos hawks, American oystercatchers, sea lions, whimbrels, flightless Cormorants, Ruddy turnstones, Galapagos mocking birds, finches, lava herons, and the big surprise came when we saw bottle-nosed dolphins.

This wonderful experience was completed with a refreshing walk through a mangrove forest. This picture can transport you back to that moment; suddenly we appear to be somewhere in the middle of the jungle!
