What is more fun? To watch sea lions enjoying the company of young human beings, or to see boys and girls having fun with sea lion pups?
It is amazing that we can share a good snorkeling experience with these wonderful creatures of the sea. They love to be in the water with us, as much as we love to try to imitate their pirouettes and turns. But the young individuals of every species are always more adventurous and curious. So it was great to observe how both, young sea lions and our youngest guests on board, approached each other with no fear and complete confidence.
When one is young there are no worries, and one can feel as the owner of the entire world. Here in Galapagos, as fear is not a word in people’s vocabulary, and as certainly it has little meaning for the creatures that inhabit these islands, one could say that here we, humans and all kinds of species, live forever in a permanent state of youth and reliance.
