Bartholome Island
Today we spent the morning at Bartholome Island. Early in the morning we woke up for a nice walk before breakfast and then later on we enjoyed a beautiful morning swimming, snorkelling and walking.
Bartholome is a very small island on the eastern side of Santiago Island. As soon as our guests got in the water, we could see their radiant smiles. Everybody was overjoyed at swimming with sharks, penguins and observing the beautiful stingrays. The water temperature was excellent and soothing after a walk under the hot sun of the Galapagos. It was so tempting that I could not help myself going in with everyone to enjoy the water and wildlife.
A little further from the coast, an anchored Zodiac provided a source of endless enjoyment for both younger children and teenagers, as they spent hours diving and jumping off the edge and swimming around the vessel. The Enchanted Islands have had this effect on guests, dating back through the centuries. In today’s difficult times, a visit to this place brings peace to our hearts, even visitors that come here saddened by the situation of our world leave with big smiles on the faces. We cannot in fact help but feel peace in this remote corner of the world, which makes the whole environment very pleasant.
This has been my first time on the Polaris, as I replaced naturalist Rafael who hurt his foot; and it has been a great experience for me. I particularly enjoyed travelling with this lovely group of people, people who have been willing to explore and discover the world.
